GIG Mobility has launched two new digital products, HireX and PASS, as part of a broader strategy to transition from a transport operator into a wider mobility and travel services platform.
The products were unveiled on Thursday at the company’s maiden Product Conference held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
The event, themed Integrato: Integrating Mobility in Ecosystem, brought together industry stakeholders, government officials, and business leaders to discuss the future of transportation and connected mobility services in Nigeria and across Africa.
Push beyond interstate transport
Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of GIG Mobility, Dr Enahoro Okhae, said the company’s expansion was driven by increasing customer demand for services beyond interstate bus transportation.
According to him, users had consistently requested airport pickups, premium vehicle hire, and travel-related services, prompting the company to broaden its offerings.
He said the move signals a new phase for the business, with ambitions to compete as a broader mobility company rather than remain focused solely on road transport.
HireX targets premium vehicle hire market
One of the newly launched products, HireX, is a vehicle hire marketplace designed to connect users with verified providers for short-term and scheduled bookings.
The platform will offer access to a range of vehicles, including executive and luxury cars, through multiple vendors.
Company officials said the marketplace model is expected to improve pricing options and broaden access to premium transportation services without requiring ownership.
PASS expands into travel services
The second product, PASS, is positioned as an all-in-one travel platform that combines several services into a single interface.
According to the company, PASS will offer airline ticketing for local and international routes, visa assistance, curated tour packages, travel insurance, and hotel bookings when integration is completed.
Executives said the product is designed to simplify travel planning by allowing users manage bookings and related services from one platform.
Tourism and electric vehicle plans
Beyond the product launches, GIG Mobility disclosed plans to deepen its presence in tourism and sustainable transport.
The company said it is preparing a pilot partnership in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to provide mobility services tied to tourism activities, with further expansion expected later in the year.
On electric vehicles, the company said it is working on a nationwide strategy that would include charging infrastructure, adding that discussions are ongoing with financial institutions.
Lagos government backs integrated mobility
Representatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture at the event highlighted the role of integrated mobility systems in supporting tourism and economic activity.
Officials noted that transport inefficiencies can affect movement within the city and reduce the ease of travel for residents and visitors.
The launch reflects a wider trend in Nigeria’s transport sector, where operators are increasingly adopting digital platforms and expanding into adjacent services such as logistics, tourism, payments, and travel management.
For GIG Mobility, the success of the expansion is likely to depend on execution, service reliability, and user adoption in a market where fragmentation and infrastructure gaps remain key challenges.
